Stanley Clement Davies, MA (Cantab) (1920-2003)

President, Cambridge Union Society, Lent 1945

Stanley Clement Davies was the son of Liberal MP (and later party leader) Clement Davies, who had himself been a member of CU Liberal Club in the 1900s. Like his father, he went to Trinity Hall, Cambridge, matriculating in 1941; and he also followed his father into a legal career, being called to the bar at Gray’s Inn. He was the youngest of four children, each of his siblings having been killed in various tragedies, all at the age of 24. He was fondly remembered by his friends as a skilled mimic, and even in old age was able to impersonate people he had known in his youth.

Stanley Clement Davies died in 2003.
